The George P. and Cynthia
W. Mitchell Institute for Fundamental Physics is located in the
Physics Department at Texas A&M University. The Institute was
established in the summer of 2002, as the result of a generous gift
from George and Cynthia Mitchell. The goals of the Institute are to
explore and advance the understanding of theoretical high-energy
physics, astroparticle physics, and cosmology; to conduct research in
string theory, M-theory, and particle phenomenology; and to explore the
interface with observation in particle physics and cosmology. The
activities of the Institute will include research workshops,
conferences, and a visitors' program.
